Behavioral Healthcare Center
at Martin (BHC-M) is a free standing 16 bed geriatric behavioral hospital.
It opened in June of 2005, and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment
of brain diseases and mental illnesses in the elderly population.
BHC-M is an inpatient geriatric
behavioral hospital that is designed to provide 24-hour nursing, psychiatric
and physician care, and crisis intervention/stabilization services.
Patients admitted to BHC-M receive medical and psychiatric interventions.
This may include adjustment to their medication regimen.
BHC-M utilizes a team approach
that combines the diverse talents of a psychiatrist, physician, a certified
geriatric nurse practitioner, family therapists, activities therapist,
certified mental health technicians, and registered and licensed nurses.
Together these professionals develop individualized treatment plans
based on the patient’s needs. The hospital works with the patient,
family members, community services, and support groups to offer a program
that will help each patient reach their goals.
